T13 Awareness Coffee Morning-Hosted by ‘ewood florist’

On Saturday 14th September, ‘ewood florist’ hosted a coffee morning with all money raised going to ‘Friends of Serenity’.  Over the course of the morning we saw sales of over 20 of our tealight holders and lots of T13 bands and ribbons.

fundraiserThe timing  couldn’t have been better.  It was the morning of our local derby away,  Blackburn Rovers V Burnley, so it felt only fitting to take advantage of the supporters.  A couple of helpers took to the street with our money containers and managed to fill a couple up.  Happy days!

Ooooo arrrr!

Ooooo arrrr!

Over the course of the morning many cakes were eaten and lots of cups of tea and coffee drunk.  The kids had a good time dipping into the Lucky Dip  and having their faces painted. The raffle was a hit and hundreds of tickets were sold. Around 100 balloons were bought for the big balloon race, with all the balloons in pink, green and yellow, the Trisomy 13 colours.

The balloon race was at 1.oo p.m. in the afternoon.  They looked just perfect in the sky.  The winning balloon was found all the way down in Warwickshire, over 400 miles away which definitely had a helping hand from a special little angel.

A few people missed the balloon race so a lovely little girl set of a small balloon race of her own.

Cakes anyone?

Overall, the day was a big success and raised over £700.00 in 3 hours.  Thank you to everyone who attended, donated and bought items.  An extra big Thank you, goes to Debbie and the team at ‘ewood florist’ for their support and hard work in arranging the event and for all their efforts on the day.
